...Unions contemplate joining PNM march

This country's unions will be holding consultations today to decide whether or not they will accept Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley's invitation to march tomorrow.

Vincent Cabrera, head of the Banking, Insurance and General Workers' Union (BIGWU), told the Express that trade union leaders will consult with each other and then make a common statement.

David Abdulah, political leader of the Movement for Social Justice (MSJ) and also general secretary of the Oilfields Workers' Trade Union (OWTU), said he too will consult with members of the party before taking a decision.

"I do think that it would have been better for there to have been some broad based discussions among different groups so there could be a mutually agreed decision on how to respond to this crisis of Government," said Abdulah.

He noted that the MSJ issued a statement last week in which it made it clear that the persons responsible for having Section 34 of the Administration of Justice (Indictable Proceedings) Act proclaimed must be held accountable.
