Vendor shot dead at stall

...homicide is 136th for the year

A 39-year-old fruit vendor was shot dead by a man pretending to be a customer on Easter Monday.

Dane Joseph, of Cap de Ville Road Junction, Point Fortin, was conducting sales at his vegetable stall when a man approached at around 7.15pm.

Police said the suspect milled around the stall for several minutes before pulling a gun. Joseph was shot in the stomach.
Joseph collapsed on the roadway, as the gunman escaped through nearby bushes.

Residents who heard the gunshot and contacted the police.
Joseph was taken to the Point Fortin District Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.
