Bovell qualifies for 50m 'free' final

George Bovell produced a 21.77 seconds timing to grab second spot in the second semifinal of the 50-metre freestyle and cement his place in tomorrow's final.

He was beaten to the wall by Brazil's Bruno Fratus, who returned a time of 21.63.

Earlier in the day Bovell recorded the same time to be fastest of all qualifiers from the morning's heats but this time around it was the fifth fastest time going into the final.
