Rondel Sorrillo clocked 10.23 seconds in Round 1 of the men's 100 metres Olympic qualifiers to advance to the semifinals.

Running in Heat 2, Sorrillo captured one of the three automatic qualifying berths when he took third place behind the USA's Justin Gatlin (9.97) and Derrick Atkins of the Bahamas (10.22).
