13-year-old hits 194
Vishnu Boys Hindu College student Kirstan Kallicharan smashed 194 to set up his school’s big 197-run win over Carapichaima East Secondary in the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) Under-14 Central Zone competition on Wednesday.
The 13-year-old right-handed number three batsman hit 26 fours and seven sixes at Esmeralda Ground to lead Vishnu to 312 for nine off their 35 overs.
Carapichaima were dimissed for 115 in reply.
Kallicharan’s knock was the highest score by a Vishnu student at the Under-14 level.
Kallicharan, who was in the Trinidad and Tobago Under-13 team last year, is one of five Vishnu players who made it onto national teams over the last year.
The other four players are Vikash Mohan and Andy Gobin, who were part of the national Under-19 team last year, and Jarlarnie Searles and Bryan Boodram who were in the national Under-15 squad.
Kallicharan, who is a part-time leg-break bowler, also featured in the Vishnu Boys team that won the SSCL Championship Division competition this year to earn promotion to the Premier Division for next season.
