Alexander wins Copa Cuba sprint
Trinidad and Tobago cyclist, Quincy Alexander of Team DPS defeated Mexican Bernado Mejia to win gold in the match sprint event at the Copa Cuba Pista UCI Class Two event, in Cuba, yesterday.
Alexander beat Mejia 2-1 in the best-of-three finals. The T&T wheelman had qualified for the match sprint with the fasting flying 200-metre time of 10.632 seconds.
Alexander’s teammates, Jude Codrington and Haseem McLean were tenth and 12th, respectively, in the match sprint.
On Thursday, Team DPS captured silver in the Men’s Team Sprint. Alexander, Codrington and McLean clocked one minute, 04.66 seconds, just 0.138 seconds slower than eventual winners, Mexico.
All three riders will compete in the keirin event on the final day of the meet, today, before returning to T&T on Monday.
