American players for ‘Sharks’ camp
AMERICAN college players Shannon Walisch and Marissa Mohammed will assist US Collegiate coach George Romano as Central FC Lady Sharks hosts an All Female Football Camp for girls ages eight to 18, titled “Girls Can Kick Too”.
The camp will be held at two venues. The north and east areas from July 7-11, at the Hasely Crawford training field and central, July 14-18, at Presentation College Chaguanas.
The camp will run between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost $250 for one week or $300 for both weeks.
Coaching will be conducted under the watch of Romano, Central FC’s Director of Women’s Football and Youth Development.
Assisting him will be the two American midfielders currently playing with the Lady Sharks, who are third on the local Women League Football Premier Division standings.
Shannon Walisch, 22, is a New York central midfielder from the University of Tampa, while 27-year-old Marissa Mohammed of Woodbridge, Virginia, is also formerly from the University of Tampa.
Apart from basic training techniques, participants will be exposed to special motivational and leadership sessions during off the field sessions.
Representatives from the Rape Crisis and Cancer Societies will also make presentations.
The camp was launched yesterday at the All Out Restaurant and Bar at the Queen’s Park Oval.
