Ammon, Robinson in CuracaoJUST two Trinidad and Tobago players are competing in the (ITF) International Tennis Federation Caribbean 13 & Under Development Tournament this week in Curacao. Ethan Ammon and Gianluc Robinson are the two, as the Tennis Association of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) did not send any female players. The left-handed Ammon is very talented and proved it by beating national under-14 player Ross Hackshaw to reach the under-14 semifinals of an ITF tournament in St Lucia two weeks ago. Ammon later combined with Hackshaw to reach the semis of doubles. Robinson does not have as much tournament experience as most of the other youngsters in the country, but he has ability and has been improving steadily this season. Players from 14 countries—Antigua, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Dominica, Guyana, Jamaica, Netherland Antilles, St Lucia, St Vincent, Suriname, T&T, United States Virgin Islands (USVI)—will be competing on a daily basis until Saturday. This tournament has been staged in Trinidad on three occasions. |
