Anamalay retains duathlon title

For the second year running, Avinash Anamalay won the sprint duathlon at the National Duathlon Championships at the Queen’s Park Savannah on the weekend, hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Triathlon Federation. 

Not only did he win, but he shaved off several minutes from his time last year, finishing the event in 56 minutes, 46 seconds. He was followed by Elvis Turner in a time of 1:00:08 and by the new national youth champion (Male), Joshua Ho who came in at 1:00:12.

Among the women, Anna-lise Young Lai was first in 1:16:12, followed by Kiyomi Rankine in 1:23:40, and Iola Preito in 1:24:02. The female national youth champ (Female) was Ariel Franco, who completed the course in 1:35:24.

In the standard distance (10K run, 40K ride, 5K run), a familiar duo came in first and second. Kirk Hearn crossed the line in 2:03:42, followed closely by Jonah Camps in 2:04:05. Ancil Greene, a former triathlon national champion was third in a time of 2:05:32. 

Among the women, Gina Hart was first with a time of 2:34:01, followed by Leslie-Ann Pillai in 2:40:14. In third place was Jenelle Nedd in 2:41:39.
