Eight medals and a team trophy were bagged by the Trinidad and Tobago archery team that recently returned from the Southern Caribbean Championship held in Guadeloupe. “This was an exceptional feat,” said manager and coach Selwyn Jagesar of the team that was “without the services of many of the more experienced archers.”
The team which was comprised of archers from various clubs included: Sarah Jagesar, Anil Mahabir, Richard Dick, Eunice Dick, Parasan Ramsumair, Amrit Siew and Imaani Abdullah (G. Duncan-Branche). They faced intense competition from some of the best archers in the region from such countries as French Guiana, Martinique, Barbados, St. Kitts & Nevis and the hosts, Guadeloupe.
President of the Trinidad and Tobago Target Archery Federation, Gregory Quesnel, extended congratulations to Jagesar, along with the archers who accompanied him. Quesnel urged all local archers to continue to improve since Trinidad and Tobago are scheduled to host next year’s Southern Caribbean Championship, where they expect to recapture the coveted SCC Cup which was recently won by Guadeloupe.
At the end of the four consecutive days of shooting both indoors and outdoors at various distances, the results were as follows:
Sarah Jagesar – Five silver medals (Individual distances and combined)
Imaani Abdullah – Two bronze medals (Individual distances and combined)
