Neither champions Defence Force nor last year’s runners-up Caledonia AIA can afford to lose further ground when they meet tonight in the feature match of a Digicel Pro League doubleheader at Ato Boldon Stadium.
The teams meet at 9 p.m., two hours after two other contenders North East Stars and Police clash in the earlier match. Both Defence Force and Caledonia are also preparing for Defence Force Caribbean Club Championship action at the end of this month. Defence Force fell 3-2 to Central FC on Sunday via an injury time goal and are currently seventh of nine teams with 17 points. But they have four matches in hand on the rest of the league, having been withdrawn from competition by national security officials in January. Four wins will put the Army into second spot. Caledonia AIA also lost 3-2 to Stars on Saturday when conceding a late goal as well. They are fifth, five adrift of fourth placed Stars.
