Bethel edge Phoenix 2-1 in Tobago

BETHEL UNITED edged 1976 FC Phoenix 2-1, on Tuesday, and have moved to the top of the Tobago Football Association (TFA) Premier Division table.

A ninth win in 13 matches put Bethel atop the league standings with 29 points, one point more than second-placed Mason Hall. Roxborough Lakers are third on 26 points, but have a game in hand on the top two.

Nicholas Baldwin and Vernon Wilson netted as Bethel secured three valuable points. Dominique Roberts was on target for Phoenix.

Mason Hall kept pace with the leaders when scoring a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Stokely Vale. Stefano Wright scored a hattrick for Mason Hall, while Kevorn Adams also got on the scoresheet. Chad Sandy notched a consolation item for Stokely Vale.

Meanwhile, Kirn Harris scored twice as Roxborough Lakers booked a spot in the TFA FA Trophy semifinals with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Signal Hill United, two Tuesdays ago. Also scoring for Roxborough were Dyke Reid and Durlon Dilworth.

Youth Stars United also made it to the semifinal round. They beat Sidey's Football Club 3-2 on penalty kicks, after the teams were balanced 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
