‘Big Phil’ Scolari wary of ‘El Tri’

A year after Brazil struggled to beat old rival Mexico in the Confederations Cup, Luiz Felipe Scolari says he is bracing for another hard time from the Central Americans when they meet in the World Cup today. Having laboured to a 2-0 victory in the 2013 warmup tournament, Scolari said “we know that it’s never easy when we play Mexico”.

What’s more, Mexico has changed a lot since Brazil last faced El Tri. Scolari said “we can’t forget that Mexico’s national team has had three coaches in the last 12 months. That means they also changed the way they play.”

Both teams now have their eyes on a place in the second round after making winning starts in Group A. Brazil beat Croatia 3-1 and Mexico edged Cameroon 1-0.
