Big wins for East, South in BGTT fdU-15

South East Zone batsman Cephas Cooper scored an unbeaten 107 on Monday and then hit 70 not out yesterday to lead his team to a comfortable 127-run win over Central in their BG T&T Under-15 InterZone match at Presentation College Chaguanas.

Meanwhile, Kirstan Kallicharan struck 99 for East on Day One of their encounter against North at Fatima Ground in Mucurapo before following up with 59 yesterday to help his team clinch a 207-run victory.

In the other Under-15 match yesterday, South also got a big win, beating South-West by 173 runs at Francis Seepaul Ground in Debe. At Presentation College Chaguanas, Cooper’s ton, which included 17 fours, led South East to 158 for six in their first innings and his unbeaten half century helped them recover from 46 for four to post 161 for seven the second time they batted. Central were dismissed for 129 and 63.

At Fatima Ground, Kallicharan continued his good form with the bat, hitting a four boundaries in a 53-ball second innings knock as East made 239 all out. They made 178 in their first innings.

Overnight batsman Leonardo Julien added one to his tally before he was caught and bowled by pacer Tyrel Job for 20, while Nathanial McDavid went on to make 31 with three fours in a partnership of 79 with Kallicharan for the third wicket before he departed caught off Daniel Osuna with the score in 121 for three.

Kallicharan followed shortly after, caught off the same bowler as East slipped to 138 for four before Kyle John added some excitement to the innings coming in at number seven and hitting right-arm spinner Sameer Ali for a six over wide long on and a four through the covers to get going. 

John also hit the other North spinner Adrian Ramlagan over long on for his second six of the innings before going after Ali again, getting another four and six off consecutive balls before being bowled off the next delivery.

North, who made 153 for nine in their first innings, were dismissed for 57 the second time around as East won their second game in the competition to book their place in the semi-finals.
