Boogie Blues vs Montejo again?

BOOGIE BLUES and Montejo could square off in a mouth-watering rematch when horse racing continues at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, on Saturday.

A short head separated them when Boogie Blues won the Gold Cup last time out on Boxing Day (December 26) and they are both among the eight horses still in contention for the Arima Race Club (ARC) Cup after the third subscriptions stage.

Boogie Blues is the defending champion of the Grade II 1,800-metre contest and the list also includes 2010 winner Cactus Amour, Strikes Not Spares, the third-placed finisher in the Gold Cup, and Sacred Trust, who placed fourth in the Stewards Cup in November.

However two-time defending Horse of the Year Bruceontheloose, who was third last time out in the Gold Cup, will be not competing in this $150,000 affair for the second year in succession.

Declaration of horses, weights and riders for the ARC Cup and all other events for the eight round of the ARC's 2012 Season will take place at the track today.

Here are the horses with subscriptions paid up to the third stage for the ARC Cup:

ARIMA RACE CLUB CUP (GRADE II) – 3 Y.O. & OVER (8) – 1800 Metres - $150,000 – Boogie Blues; Cactus Amour; Joezel; Mobthewarrior; Montejo; Sacred Trust; Strikes Not Spares.
