Bowlers shine in trial match

The bowlers had the edge yesterday, the first day of the three-day trial encounter between a Denesh Ramdin XI and a Rayad Emrit XI at the National Cricket Centre, Couva.

All-rounder Imran Khan top-scored with 68, and Kharry Pierre (48) and opener Evin Lewis chipped in for the Emrit XI, but left-arm orthodox spinner Akeal Hosein took four wickets for the Ramdin XI to reduce their opponents to 281 for nine at stumps yesterday. The match resumes today from 10 a.m.
