Caledonia, W Connection rebound

CALEDONIA AIA and W Connection rebounded from last weekend's Digicel Pro League defeats by picking up full points in mid-week rescheduled matches.

Pro League action continues this evening, with leaders Defence Force facing T&TEC at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva from six p.m. Two hours later, W Connection tackle Police. Another double-header will be staged tomorrow, at the Marvin Lee Stadium, in Macoya. At five p.m., Caledonia AIA meet St Ann's Rangers for the second time in four days. And at seven, fourth-placed North East Stars meet Central FC.

Last week, Caledonia went down 2-1 to Central FC, while champions W Connection were edged 2-1 by Defence Force. On Wednesday, however, both title challengers won at the Boldon Stadium to gain ground on Defence Force.

W Connection beat Central FC 1-0 on Joevin Jones' 70th minute goal , a left-footed shot which slipped past goalkeeper Marvin Phillip, who seemed to have it covered.

Meanwhile, Caledonia AIA got early goals from Kareem Joseph (13th) and Trevin Caesar (17th), but only just held off a spirited Rangers outfit in the second half to win 2-1. Caledonia dominated the first half and opened the scoring from the penalty spot, Joseph converting past Rangers goalie Zane Coker.

Caesar made it 2-0 from close range, the Tobagonian punishing a defensive error. Tyronne Charles replied for Rangers in the 45th minute when hammering the ball past goalkeeper Glenroy Samuel after taking Dwane James' pass into the box.
