Carapichaima vs Hillview in top-of-the-table SSCL clash

By Roger Seepersad roger.seepersad@trinidadexpress.com

The only two unbeaten teams in the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) Premier Division will lock horns today in a top-of-the table clash at Honeymoon Park, El Dorado.

League newcomers and current leaders Carapichaima East Secondary will meet former champions, second-placed Hillview College in a match that could decide who will emerge as champions. Although there are four rounds of matches to be played after today, the teams are close at the top of the ten-team standings and an outright win for either could see them open up a sizable lead.

Caps, on 69 points, have a nine-point cushion on their opponents. The league leaders are going after their fifth consecutive win in the competition.

Hillview, although unbeaten, were held to a draw by cross-town rivals El Dorado East Secondary in round two last month. They have won twice since that draw, and are looking for their third consecutive victory.

Another key clash today will see third-place Princes Town West Secondary tackling fifth place Naparima College at Wilson Road.

With just two points separating them from Hillview, and 11 from Caps, Princes Town's title hopes are still alive.
