Century for Griffith, duck for Pollard on return

 Guyanese batsman Trevon Griffith slammed 114 to lead Esmeralda to a strong position against Queen’s Park Cricket Club on the first day of their Premier Division two-day league match at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain yesterday.

Griffith’s ton, which came off 147 balls and included six sixes and nine fours, led Esmeralda to 259 all out after they were sent in to bat.

The Parkites were batting 96 for six at stumps.

Queen’s Park all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who is making a comeback from injury, was out for a first ball zero, lbw to pacer Teshawn Castro.

In other games, Lincoln Roberts hit 121 for Jenexcon Tableland as they posted 299 against Munroe Road who were dismissed for 129 in their first innings.

Also scoring a century yesterday was Ryan Ramdass who hit 100 to put First Citizens Clarke Road on top against CLICO Preysal.

Elsewhere, the defending champions PowerGen hit 320 against Alescon Comets who were 45 without loss at stumps.
