Champs GEMS win opener
Defending Premier Division champions Global Encounter Ministries (Gems) have indicated they do not intend to surrender their Churches Football League title which they have won for four of the last five seasons.
The champs began the 2014 season with a 2 – 1 victory on Saturday over the boys from Dabadie Deliverance Sanctuary, with Jevon Simon and Kareem Perry scoring for GEMS, while Joshama Bishop netted for the losers.
There were also Premier Division victories for Greater Malabar Christian Centre and Cumoto Strike Force. Kayode Williams, Vorn Nero both scored as Greater Malabar Christian Centre edged Reformation Life Centre 2-0, while Simeon Augustus, Kashiff Bascombe were both on the scoresheet, when Cumoto Strike Force beat KOB Kings 3 – 0.
In the First division, Peoples United Fellowship showed no mercy as they whipped New Testament Warriors 9 - 1 and Bethel FC stopped RCC 3-1.
