Defending National League Premier Division champions Queen's Park Cricket Club will be looking to get their campaign back on track this weekend when they face leaders Alescon Comets in a must-win match at Pierre Road, Charlieville bowling off at 10 a.m. today.

Both sides are coming off first innings defeats in the previous round, making this weekend's round six encounter even more important.

For the hosts, Comets, who are on 110 points, their loss on first innings to Moosai Sports at the same venue last weekend saw their lead cut in half, and another slip-up could see them lose the top spot half-way through the season.

The Parkites, who were aiming for another clean sweep of domestic titles, encountered their first obstacle at the hands of Moosai Sports who handed them their first first innings defeat for the season two weeks ago.

Merry Boys set Queen's Park further back last week by also winning on first innings.

Another result like those and the Parkites, who are currently fifth with 83 points, could be out of the title race.

The good news for Queen's Park though is that their regular skipper Justin Guillen will be back for the clash along with middle-order batsman Marlon Barclay, who is returning from a back injury.

In another key clash, second placed Moosai (95 points) travel to Gilbert Park, California to face Caldrac Club (83 points) and Moosai will also be under the gun, needing a win to keep the pressure on the leaders.

Kjorn Ottley slammed a hundred for Moosai last weekend and another triple figure score could put him in contention for Trinidad and Tobago's regional four-day match against Jamaica at Sabina Park, Jamaica, next week.

Elsewhere, PowerGen Penal face Seenath's Auto Bamboo Sports for the third time this season.

PowerGen beat Bamboo twice in the 50-over Sunday League and now they will be hunting a victory in the two-day arena as they try to keep pace with the leaders.

Bamboo, on the other hand, are fighting to avoid relegation and will be looking to build on the momentum they got from their outright win over Esmeralda in the previous round.

All matches bowl off at 10 a.m. today and continue from 9:30 a.m. tomorrow.
