Chung forced to skip Latin American Cup

A delayed Air France flight has forced Trinidad and Tobago’s Rheann Chung out of the Latin American Cup women’s singles table tennis tournament, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Her flight from Bordeaux, France, to Paris was delayed, yesterday, meaning the France-based professional player would not have arrived in Paris early enough to catch her connection to Santo Domingo.

The tournament serves off today, and since Chung could not have reached Dominican Republic before tonight, she was forced to withdraw.

Chung qualified for the Latin American Cup, an elite “Top 12” tournament, on the strength of her women’s singles triumph at the 2012 Caribbean Championships.

At the 2012 Latin American Cup, in Costa Rica, Chung reached the quarterfinal round of the women’s singles. Another France-based T&T pro, Dexter St Louis reached the men’s singles quarters.
