Clippers, Pacers clash in U-15 finals

 Centre Tyrik Singh, and forwards Romel Ash and Hans Coker all scored in double-digits when leading Caledonia Clippers to a 75-64 win over Laventille in the Powerade/Toyota Boys Under-15 Big-Four semi-final of the Super 10 Basketball League. The match was played last Sunday at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex.

Laventille edged ahead in the first quarter and led 18-16, but Clippers jumped ahead 35-30 in the second session to close the first half with a five-point advantage. Afterward, they never looked back and led 55-42 in the  third period before winning by 11 points.

Singh, son of Clippers team coach RickSingh, dominated the centre court position with safe hands and strong foot work as he amassed 18 points, while Ash sank 15 points and Coker helped out with another 14 points.

For Laventille, Mosiah Andrews top-scored with 17 points and Jovan DeVignes got 16. Caledonia Clippers will face Maloney Pacers in the finals on a date to be announced, while Laventille will take on Trailblazers for the third-place play-off also to be played on a date to be announced.

Meanwhile, Pacers outlasted Trailblazers 49-42 in their semi-final contest on Saturday in Maloney. 

Pacers dominated the match 11-8; 26-13 and 38-19 after three sessions of play. For Pacers, centre Josiah Best, standing six-feet six inches, dropped in 18 points, and Isiah Brathwaite helped out with 11. For Trailblazers, Hakeem Morgan worked his way to 13 hard-fought points and Jerbarry Villafana assisted with nine points.
