Confident T&T

WICB Regional Under-17 Tournament

By Roger Seepersad

Left-arm orthodox spinner Jovan Ali will lead a confident Trinidad and Tobago Under-17 team for the inaugural West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Regional Under-17 Tournament, which bowls off in Tobago on Sunday.

The T&T contingent, coached by Dasrath Maharaj, is full of experience with the likes of West Indies Under-19 all-rounder Brian Christmas and Queen's Park Cricket Club opener Jeremy Solozano in the mix.

Solozano was recently awarded the "Best Batsman" trophy in the Secondary Schools Cricket League Premier Division after averaging 71.60 for Hillview College.

There is also a lot of variety in the national team's bowling department.

Along with the left-arm spin of the skipper and Justin Joseph, Trinidad and Tobago will have the services of right-arm leg-break bowler Jesse Bootan and tall right-arm medium pacer Darion Ramdhenny, as well as a few off-spinners.

T&T open their campaign against the Leeward Islands on Sunday at Shaw Park from 9 a.m.
