Cooper back for QPCC in Premier Division

By Roger Seepersad

Trinidad and Tobago all-rounder Kevon Cooper returns to action this weekend for Queen's Park Cricket Club (QPCC) when the defending Premier Division champions travel to Honeymoon Park, El Dorado, for their crucial fourth-round match against Moosai Sports, bowling off today at 10 a.m.

Cooper will be a welcome boost for the second-placed Parkites (65 points), who trail leaders Alescon Comets (75), as will the return of captain Justin Guillen from national duty.

Rookie leg-spinner Jesse Bootan should also replace left-arm spinner Kharry Pierre. Injured Marlon Barclay is still missing from the QPCC middle order as well.

Moosai, who are yet to lose a match, will hope they can upset Queen's Park for the first time since their return to the top flight in 2011. They will be depending on the all-round talents of Aneil Kanhai and fast bowler Navin Stewart, as well as in-form teenager Ewart Nicholson.

Also on this weekend is the "Penal Derby" between PowerGen Penal and rivals First Citizens Clarke Road United being played at Syne Village, Penal, while Comets take on Seenath's Auto Bamboo Sports in Bamboo, and Merry Boys could very well be left waiting for W Connection Wanderers at Gilbert Park.

Wanderers have defaulted their three matches thus far.
