DEFENDING Trinidad and Tobago Open champion Shane Costelloe produced a solid even-par round of 72 to wrest the Men’s Championship crown at the conclusion of the 36-hole TATIL Open Invitational Tournament yesterday at St Andrew’s Golf Course in Moka.
And Christina Ferreira completed the hat-trick in as many years to lift the Ladies’ title.
Costelloe, tied for fifth after the first round on Saturday, produced the low round of the day to capture the honours at the 18th hole late yesterday evening in the two-day competition.
The former top junior golfer, on the mend from a knee injury, ignored his recent physical troubles and setbacks to lift the crown he last held in 2012 with a 36-hole aggregate of 148 (76+72).
Clint Alfred was consistent for second (75+75=150), with Dave Rajkumar (76+78=154) and Liam Bryden (74+80=154) joint third and Neil Lutchmansingh (80+75=155) rounding out the top five.
Ferreira (78+79=157) defended her first-day lead to hold off fellow national ladies team member Ysabelle Lawrence (82+81=163). Veteran Pauline Raynor (86+83=169) took third spot.
