Cycling loses Kent Luces

Local vetern cyclist Kent Luces died while cycling at Skinner Park on Tuesday.

Luces was a member of the Rigtech Sonics club. His brother Noel, who was a cycling coach, died 22 months ago.

Trinidad and Tobago Cycling Federation president Rowena Williams said the news came out of the blue.

“It (Luces’ death) was sudden and a shock to the entire cycling fraternity. He died doing what he loved which was cycling but we wish the family all condolences in this trying period,” Williams said.

In other news, the TTCF calendar pedals off tomorrow with the first road race of the TTCF Road Race League Series.

Over 90 cyclists from clubs throughout the country are expected to line up for the 7 a.m. start.

Points accumulated from this race count towards national team selection for the National Championships in August as well as the Elite Caribbean Road Race Championships in October and the Caribbean Junior Road Race Championships scheduled for July. Venues for the regional road race events are yet to be identified.
