Notre Dame powered past QPCC 4-1 in their opening game when the first day of the First Citizens sponsored Ventures Hockey Club Junior Indoor Tournament flicked off at the Woodbrook Youth Facility, Woodbrook Saturday.
In the Menís Under 23 encounter, national senior menís team player Shaquille Daniel netted a double to lead Notre Dame to victory. Teammates Aidan De Gannes and Chad Pedro scored one a piece while QPCCís Jordan Reynos scored the consolation goal.
The young Daniel was also top scorer in the Dames Boysí under 18 4-4 draw with Fatima. Daniel again scored 2 with Pedro and Roger Hunter scoring one each. For Fatima Jordan Vieira tallied a hattrick while Tariq Marcano put one item past the Dames goalkeeper.
Paragon won both their games in this division - the first a 1-0 win over Notre Dame through a Christian Emanuel goal, then a 4-1 triumph over Shape 1. Kelon Sterrett struck a hat-trick with the other goal coming from Nehemiah Julien. Daniel Byer scored for Shape.
In Girls U-18 action, Paragon pummeled Shooting Stars 1 11-0 while hosts Ventures shut out Shooting Stars 2, 8-0.
The competition was scheduled to conclude yesterday with the playoff matches and finals of each division.
