Trinidad and Tobago's Wayne Davis II outclassed his rivals to strike men's 60 metres hurdles gold, at the Texas A&M Mondo Challenge, in the United States, yesterday.
The Texas A&M University student got to the line in 7.78 seconds, equalling the meet record.
University of Tennessee senior Annie Alexander seized silver in the women's shot put. She threw the iron ball 16.83 metres.
Jamol James clocked 6.86 seconds to finish third in heat three and seventh overall in the qualifying round of the men's 60m dash. In the final, however, the Tennessee freshman was disqualified for a false start.
At Friday's Jayhawk Classic, in Kansas, Mikel Thomas clocked 7.80 seconds to capture the men's 60m hurdles title.
Wichita State University student Scarla Nero finished fourth in the women's 3,000m in 10 minutes, 22.19 seconds.
Her teammate, Samantha Shukla got home in 5:10.48 to cop fifth spot in the women's mile. And in the men's 600-yard event, Butler County Community College athlete, Devery Robley was second in his section and 13th overall in 1:18.90.
On Thursday, at the Birmingham Invitational in Alabama, Stann Waithe produced a 21.70 seconds run to snap up silver in the men's 200m.
Robert Collingwood finished second in the men's shot put with a 16.50m throw. His twin brother and University of Southern Mississippi teammate Richard Collingwood (15.34m) was third.
In the men's 60m finals, Waithe was seventh fastest in 6.92 seconds, while University of Miami junior Kieron Anthony got home in 7.18 for 15th spot overall.
In the preliminary round, Waithe clocked 7.00 and Anthony 7.03, while Robert Collingwood produced a 7.77 seconds run to finish 39th overall.
On Friday, at the Razorback Invitational in Arkansas, Louisiana State University (LSU) student Kyron Blaise finished fourth in the men's long jump with a 7.56m leap.
University of Iowa athlete Carisa Leacock jumped 5.84m for sixth spot in the women's long jump. In the triple jump, she was eighth with a 12.19m effort.
In the men's 200m, Baylor University's Zwede Hewitt (21.56) and LSU students Shermund Allsop (21.77) and Ade Alleyne-Forte (22.00) were ninth, 16th and 21st, respectively. Alleyne-Forte (48.14) finished 14th overall in the 400m. And Allsop (7.03) was 26th in the 60m dash.
