Persons who created infractions at the end of the February 7 Pro League match between North East Stars and Central FC, have been brought before the Disciplinary Committee of the Digicel Pro League. Sanctions are expected to be announced soon.
A controversial penalty given by referee Neal Brizan near the end of the match, allowed Central FC to equalise two minutes into injury time as the teams played out a 1-1 draw. The penalty upset several members of the North East Stars team. Head coach Angus Eve and equipment manager Selwyn Gabriel, were both sent to the bench by Brizan, who also gave Jamaican midfielder Keithy Simpson a red card after the match ended. Stars president Darryl Mahabir vented at Brizan, while the parties were being separated by another match official.
Yesterday, Digicel Pro League CEO Dexter Skeene said the finding of the Disciplinary Committee is pending.
“We got the referee’s report and the match commissioner’s report. Anyone who might have committed an infraction has been interviewed, and we will wait on the decision of the Disciplinary Committee which should be coming soon,” Skeene said.
