Trinidad and Toabgo’s junior national water polo teams won gold yestersay, when the CARIFTA Water Polo Championships concluded in Willemstad, Curaçao.
In the gold medal match, the T&T male Under 19 team hammered Curaçao 25-2 while the male Under-16 squad thrashed the Bahamas 17-2 to lift the title.
On Saturday, both teams got to their finals convincingly in their respective games, with the U-19s first outclassing Barbados 40-0 and then Curaçao 31-2. These results mean that T&T qualified for the final yesterday. The U-16s also had followed suit with victories over Curaçao and the Bahamas. The scores were 32-1 and 16 - 7 respectively. Both teams performed way above the level of their opponents, with the U-19s scoring 174 goals and conceding only 5. The U-16s netted 103 times while conceding just 17.
