Eagles soaring in CFA competition
Without kicking a ball, Eagles United picked up an eighth win of the season to take their lead to three points over Cunupia FC atop the Hugo Francis group of the Central Football Association, their default win over Leeds United handing Eagles a cushion.
Eagles have a match in hand over second-placed Cunupia United, who lost 1-0 to Perseverance United on a Kyle St Clair 90th minute goal.
Caroni Tabaquite, in the bottom half of the Hugo Francis table, also found winning ways with a 2-0 blanking of cellar-placed Flamengo FC.
The other group is led by Coosal’s Las Lomas, who have a five-point cushion over Edinburgh 500.
But the latter took advantage of the inactivity of the former, whipping Cap off Youths 3-0 to edge closer.
Fire Services also took a 3-0 default win over Harlem Strikers, but Enterprise Youths, third on that table, could only manage a 3-3 draw with Xtrafoods Chaguanas FC.
