‘El Do’ open InterCol defence

By Roger Seepersad roger.seepersad@trinidadexpress.com

El Dorado East Secondary will start their PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) InterCol title defence today, against past champions Presentation College Chaguanas, in the second round of the knock-out competition, at Honeymoon Park, El Dorado, from 11 a.m..

“El Do” have retained some of their players from last season who led them to their first InterCol T20 title, and will be confident of overcoming “Pres”, who defeated them in their only other appearance in the T20 final in 2008.

Shaquille McDavid, who guided El Do to the win over Barataria South Secondary last year with an unbeaten 58, will lead the charge for the defending champions, along with hard-hitting batsman Kyle Ramoutar and skipper Ewart Nicholson.

“Pres” will be banking on their experienced players--like allrounder Bryan Charles, opening batsman Kamil Pooran and left-arm orthodox bowler Emilo Gopaul—to help them overcome the champs.
