Longdenville 500 handed Enterprise their first defeat in the Hoop of Life Community Basketball League at Longdenville Basketball Court on Sunday, their 69-57 triumph ending Enterprise's winning streak at five games.
The hosts fell behind in the first quarter 17-13, but fought back to within one point (29-28) by the end of the first half.
Longdenville then outscored their opponents 17-12 to take a commanding 46-40 lead to close the third quarter. Tyson Gangaraw led the way 16 points, Joel Morgan supported with 14 and Elton Crichlow 13 for the winners, who now have three wins and three loses.
For Enterprise, Austin Ralph led all scorers with 17 points, Kofi Campbell added 15 and Karlus Cruickshank chipped with ten to take the team's record to five and one.
Siparia also had their unbeaten run snapped over the weekend, as Palo Seco stunned them 73-67 at Bennette Village Basketball Court, Santa Flora on Saturday.
Devon Waddell scored a League-best 48 points to pilot Palo Seco to victory, halting Siparia's six-game streak.
Siparia, who dominated Palo Seco 71-64 in December at its Irwin Park court, trailed in all four quarters of the contest on Saturday, 17-16, 21-20, 17-16 and 18-15.
Waddell scored 23 of his points in the second half, while Shem Grant scored 18 points for Siparia,
Also on Saturday, forward Mikhail Scoon recorded a season-best 27 points, which guided St Joseph to a 66-59 win over Tunapuna United at St Joseph Basketball Court.
The home team opened a 19-14 advantage at the end of the first quarter and increased it to 11 points, 35-24 at the half.
St Joseph continued to outscore the visitors and pushed the lead to 15 as the third period ended 52-37. The final period was no different as they scored 19 points to Tunapuna's 17 to come away with the seven point win.
Jonathan Weeks helped himself to ten points while the athletic forward Akiel Paynter had a game-high 28 points for Tunapuna.
Tunapuna's final preliminary round match was schedule for last night (Tuesday) against Santa Cruz at Macoya Hard Court. Meanwhile forward Colin Flemming had another game-high performance to lead Barataira to a 48-point blow-out of Santa Cruz.
Flemming dropped 36 points while Trevor Lecanlite had 16 for the winners. Santa Cruz's top shooter was Shawn Allen with 14 points.
It was Tunapuna that ended Barataria's six-game unbeaten run with a 76-70 win back on January 9.
