Five countries in ‘Caribbean’ junior tourney

PLAYERS from five countries will be doing battle from tomorrow when the CASOVA (Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association) Youth Championships serves off at Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Tacarigua.

Boys under the age of 19 and Under-18 girls from Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, the United States Virgin Islands and T&T will compete over four consecutive days

And after a straight round-robin competition, the top two teams will contest the finals on Sunday.

The girls’ tournament has only been contested twice and T&T were crowned champions in both the inaugural edition at home in 2007 and last year in the St Croix.

The United States Virgin Islands are the defending boys’ champs, while T&T placed fourth last year after collecting bronze medals in the other two editions – 2007 and 2010.
