Foo (151) foils Clarke Road in Sunday League

By Roger Seepersad

Guyanese Twenty20 batsman Jonathan Foo slammed an undefeated 151 to lead F&E Diamond United to a tense one-wicket win over First Citizen's Clarke Road United in their Premier Division Sunday League 50 over match at Kennedy Park, Diamond yesterday.

Clarke Road batted first and piled up 202 all out in their 50 overs, with Ranga Lachana leading the charge with 74.

Foo, who flew in to join the club on Thursday, rallied the hosts to victory, keeping alive their hopes of making it to the Sunday League quarter-finals next weekend as one of the top four teams in Group A.

The other teams in the group include defending champions Queen's Park Cricket Club, Moosai Sport, HKL Aranjuez and Esmeralda.

Queen's Park and last year's runners up PowerGen Sports both secured their place in the quarter-finals after completing easy wins in round three of the competition yesterday.

The Parkites defeated Esmeralda by 87 runs in their Group A match at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, while PowerGen overcame Seenath's Auto Bamboo Sports by 41-run in their Group B match at Bamboo Recreation Ground as both sides maintained their 100 per cent records in the competition.

The competition continues today with Queen's Park hosting Moosai Sports at the Oval.
