Guillen, Mohammed skippers for three-day trial match

TRINIDAD and Tobago’s preparations for the regional First Class competition will continue after the New Year’s holiday with a three-day trial match at National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva.

The match bowls off on Friday and the national selectors, chaired by Alec Burns, will take a close look at T&T’s prospects ahead of the 2014 regional tournaments.

Team “A” will be captained by Justin Guillen with Adrian Barath and Amit Jaggernauth in their line-up, against Jason Mohammed’s Team “B”, which includes West Indies pacer Shannon Gabriel and openers Evin Lewis and Nicholas Sookdeosingh.

T&T selection panel includes longtime administrator Lalman Kowlessar, former West Indies selector Raphick Jumadeen, and former T&T players Narine Bedhesi and Roland Sampath.

The T&T training squads have already engaged in three 50-over matches over the past weekend at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.

Several players who showed good form, including Ranga Latchana, Kevon Cooper and Imran Khan, will be looking to maintain their momentum as T&T prepares to host the Regional 50-Over Tournament from January 30.
