Hard Knocks FC rebounded from last week’s 2-1 loss to Enterprise Life Sports with a polished 4-1 whipping of Edinburgh 500 at the Chrissie Terrace Recreation Ground in Enterprise last Saturday.
Hard Knocks showed no effects of their first loss of the season as they quickly settled into their crisp passing game. With the clock showing 23 minutes, Corneal Thomas would conjure up a goal out of nowhere.
The solid defender appeared atop the 18-metre box with the ball and with Edinburgh’s defenders focused on picking up attacking players, he unleashed a left-footed shot past goalkeeper Anthony Alert.
And striker Ryan Fredericks made it 2-0 in the 35th minute when he rose above the defence to angle a well-placed header to the right of Alert off a left side corner. Kerron Smith would put the game out of their opponents reach when he beat Alert in the 51st minute to make it 3-0.
However, Edinburgh pulled one back four minutes courtesy Stephen Julien, who turned culprit in the 61st minute when he was the recipient of a botched attempt at clearing the ball by Hard Knocks’ defence. He hit a one-time effort from well inside the 18-metre box but looked on in disbelief as his shot ricocheted off the upright.
Hard Knocks would add one more for good measure when Alert failed to hang on to a floated cross from the left side of the field in the 79th minute of play, leaving Donovan Derrick with the simple task of tapping home at the far post.
In other matches, JOGA Boyz earned a 3-0 default win over Cashew Gardens; Dream Team hammered a short-handed Barb Wire City 10-0; while Bhagaloo Strikers secured a 1-0 win over Jordan Trace CRIL with the winning item coming in the final minute.
