ToolsHarvard beat Caribs to go top on Toyota tableHarvard pulled off a surprise 31-5 win over defending Trinidad and Tobago Rugby Football Union (TTRFU) Toyota Championship Division champions, Caribs, at Queen's Park Savannah One pitch, in Port of Spain, on Saturday. Caribs went into the half 21-5 down, and eventually ended the game with Jamal Clark and Andre Carbera red carded for foul play. Claudius Butts, Rowell Gordon, David Gookool and Cloyd London scored tries for Harvard, while Ryan Hinkson chipped in five conversions and one penalty. Jason Clark scored the lone try for Caribs. The win put Harvard at the top of the standings with a one point cushion on Caribs, with just three games left in the season. Harvard coach, Larry Mendez was a satisfied man on Saturday. "It was a crucial match and one we had to win to keep our hopes of winning the Toyota Championship alive...so credit to the guys. But the mission isn't over. Our next opponent is Stag Trinidad Northern," said Mendez. In other Toyota Championship Division matches, on Saturday, Stag Trinidad Northern crushed Police 87-0 and Royalians whipped Rainbow 46-7. |
