Hinds steps up as Barbados win again

Ryan Hinds came to the party for Barbados yesterday as they handed the Windward Islands their second defeat in as many games in their Caribbean Twenty20 warm-up match at UTT O'Meara yesterday.

With captain Dwayne Smith rested, Hinds stepped up with an unbeaten 68 to lead the Bajans to 141 for four when they batted first.

West Indies Under-19 batsman Kyle Mayers also chipped in with 23 not out to push to the Barbados total up.

Windwards, who lost their first warm-up match to hosts Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday night, fell down in the chase, reaching 126 for nine off their 20 overs with Johnson Charles (29), Andre Fletcher (35) and Miles Bascombe (27) being the main contributors.

Hinds undermined the Windwards batting with his left-arm orthodox spin as he snatched three for 26 to disrupt their chase.

Barbados will play their first match of the competition on Monday against the Leeward Islands at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain from 4 p.m., while the Windwards get their first taste of action on Wednesday against Jamaica at the Oval from 4 p.m.
