As the Guyana national team did battle against Jamaica in the NAGICO Super50 at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain yesterday, two Guyanese nationals were leading First Citizens Clarke Road to victory in the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board Premier Division Sunday League 50 over competition.
Ryan Ramdass, who played one Test for the West Indies, hit 119 not out while Rajiv Ivan, who has made two one-day appearances for Guyana, made an unbeaten 50 to guide Clarke Road to an easy seven wicket win over Alescon Comets at Pierre Road in Charlieville in their second round Group B Sunday League match-up.
Clarke Road, who lost their first round match to Jenexcon Tableland last week, made 215 for seven off 37.1 overs yesterday to overcome Comets who batted first and made 212 for six off their reduced 42 overs.
All-rounder Richard Kelly hit 80 for Comets while national wicketkeeper Steven Katwaroo made an unbeaten 78.
In the feature match of Group A, defending champions Queen’s Park Cricket Club notched their second win in as many matches as they defeated Merry Boys by four wickets at Serpentine Road in St Clair.
Seenath’s Auto Bamboo Sports also remained unbeaten in Group A after defeating Munroe Road by 32 runs yesterday.
