San Juan Jabloteh are the first team into the Championship Division knockout final of the Courts All Sectors Netball League after pushing past Police Y 27-23 at the indoor court of the Eastern Regional Sporting Complex at Tacarigua on Monday.
Jabloteh led 13-9 at the half, and were given the win through the offence of Giselle Hobson (17 of 30) and Samantha James (10 of 13). They have a bye in the semi-final round.
Neither Police team will reach the final, as Fire Service stopped Police X 30-25 with stronger defensive play, as they were able to almost double their opponents’ number of attempts on goal.
Their percentage shooting was barely above 50 per cent as goal shoot Aquila Blugh sank 14 of her 28 attempts, and goal attack Ayanna Peters 16 of 31.
Patrice Goring was much more accurate with 22 of 28 attempts scored, but goal attack Tricia Roberts was hardly able to get under the net, and sank three of just five attempts.
The half-time score between the teams was 13-12, but it did not finish that close in the end.
The semi-final winners between Fire Services and Bermudez will face Jabloteh.
In the Retro Division, Les Enfants had an easy time on the court in their match against Harlem, jumping out to a 19-5 lead in the first of their two 15-minute halves before closing out a 34-12 victory.
The main shooting came from goal shoot Joanne Payne (17 of 31) and Michelle Boyce (14 of 25), while Harlem’s best came from Mona Thomas (6 of 15).
