Jamaica look for progress

l KINGSTON

Jamaica's leading netball officials have appealed to the sunshine girls to work harder towards improving their rankings on the world stage as they prepare for major international competitions over the next three years.

Netball Association's High Performance Director, Maureen Hall and president Marva Bernard have made strong calls for improvement ahead of a world tournament this year, next year and the World Netball Championship in Australia in 2015.

"We must improve our fourth positions at the Commonwealth and World Netball Championship levels and our bronze medal position at the World Youth Netball level," Bernard told senior players during a meeting.

Jamaica slipped one place to fourth in the International Federation of Netball Association (IFNA) world rankings released last month.

The Sunshine Girls sit one place below England, who beat them 2-1 in a Test series last September in the United Kingdom.
