Opening batsman Amir Jangoo slammed a half century before pacers Anderson Phillip and left-arm orthodox bowler Justin Joseph picked up two wickets each to put Trinidad and Tobago Under-19s in a good position at the close of the first day of their Regional Under-19 second round three-day match against Barbados at the Guyana National Stadium in Guyana yesterday.
Jangoo hit 79 to lead T&T to 199 off 71.2 overs. The Merry Boys batsman kept the T&T innings going before he was bowled by Chad Williams who picked up seven wickets for 61 runs from 25.2 overs.
However, the Bajan batsmen did not take advantage and were struggling at 21 for four off 16 overs at the close.
In other matches, the Guyana were on 44 without loss replying to the Windward Islands first innings of 139 all out while the Leeward Islands were five without loss in reply to Jamaica’s 117 all out.
