Jason Mohammed enjoys the moment

Jason Mohammed got a taste of what it was like to hit the winning runs in a final in front of thousands of fans and he is keen on doing it again.

"I was very nervous but it was a situation I like to be in. I really enjoyed that moment," Mohammed said after hitting a six to help Trinidad and Tobago defeat Jamaica by six wickets in the Twenty20 for 50 Cricket Festival final at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain on Sunday night.

The middle-order batsman also led T&T to victory in their second match of the Festival on Saturday, against the Daren Ganga All Stars when they had their backs against the wall.

Needing ten runs in the last over, Mohammed struck a six and four to bring home the win with two balls remaining.

"That is why we play cricket for...for moments like those when you can pull it off for your team. I was very proud I could win that game for Trinidad and Tobago in the end," he said, noting that he is hungry for more opportunities to do it again.

"It was nice doing well in front the home crowd. It was an important tournament for me to prove myself and show my worth and I think I did that," he added.

But Mohammed's success in the Festival did not come by chance.

"I have put in a lot of extra work...we have been training hard for the past three months, myself and Navin Stewart, and it has benefitted us. I am just getting back to being myself...it is working out for me and hopefully I can continue to do well for Trinidad and Tobago," Mohammed said.

The batsman is also looking to be consistent as he tries to secure a place in the T&T side that will play in the Champions League T20 in South Africa in October.

"I don't want it to be a one-off thing. I want to go to the Champions League and do the same thing and maintain my good performances and keep doing well and keep on working hard," he added.

"The (T&T Cricket Board) chairman of selectors (Dudnath Ramkessoon) said the team has not been selected as yet and there is another tournament coming up and I am hoping I will be in the team and will try to do well and secure my pick."
