Four players scored in double digits as Petro Jazz scored a 78-69 win over Caledonia Clippers for a 2-0 series lead when competition in the Big-Four Semi-finals of the Mackeson Super 10 Basketball League continued at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex on Thursday night.
Jazz jumped out to a 20-14 first quarter lead and extended it to 39-26 by half-time. Clippers then outscored the visitors 18-15 in the third quarter to reduce their deficit by 10, (54-44).
In the fourth quarter, Jazz maintained their ten-point cushion until the final two-and-a-half minutes when Clippers came within five points (72-68) but failed to convert on back-to-back attempts at he basket which allowed Jazz to add to their score and close out the contest.
Jazz, looking to book their third consecutive trip to the title-series got 16 points and nine rebounds from centre Steve McSween, while forward Ako Pascal netted 14, and teammates Adrian Joseph and Dextroy Manswell added ten each and he pulled down 12 rebounds and made nine blocks.
For Caledonia Clippers who lost Game One on Saturday 80-74 at the Southern Indoor Sports Arena, Pleasantville, San Fernando, centre Shawn Lawrence led all scorers with 24 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks.
Game Three of the series was scheduled for last night at the Southern Indoor Sports Arena.
Valencia Heat are also leading their five-match semi-final series with Defence Force 2-0.
Meanwhile, in the first match Thursday, Quarters United swept Colours 2-0 in their Best-of-Three series after a 68-50 score-line in Game Two.
