Jehue Gordon, Darrel Brown and Michelle-Lee Ahye are among the athletes listed to compete at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain this weekend, at the Falcon Games.
Competition director Durly Lucas told the Express that Gordon has been entered in both the men’s 400 metres hurdles and 400m flat event.
At the 2012 Falcon Games, Gordon suffered a rare one-lap hurdles defeat on home soil, finishing second to Puerto Rican Eric Alejandro. The Trinidad and Tobago track star could have the opportunity to avenge that defeat tomorrow.
Lucas said yesterday that Alejandro is expected to be here for the meet.
Brown, the 2002 world junior champion in the men’s 100m dash, will wear Rebirth colours in tomorrow’s men’s 4x100m relay. There was no confirmation, however, on his participation in Sunday’s individual 100m event.
Ahye, a women’s 100m semifinalist at the 2012 London Olympics, is listed for action in both sprints this weekend.
The Falcon Games will serve as the last warm-up for the T&T and Barbados Carifta Games teams.
The 44 athletes who will wear T&T colours at the March 29-April 1 Carifta Games in Nassau, Bahamas will represent their respective clubs in the individual events tomorrow and Sunday, but will line up for the national team in the relays.
The T&T Carifta team includes quartermiler Machel Cedenio, reigning boys’ under-20 800m champion Mark London, and 2012 girls’ under-17 shot put gold medallist Chelsea James.
Heats on both days will be contested from 9 a.m. The opening ceremony starts at 3.30 tomorrow afternoon, with the first event in the second session scheduled for 4.30. Sunday’s second session gets going at 3 p.m.
The Durly Lucas 10K takes place on Sunday. The race starts at 6.30 a.m. at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain, close to Whitehall, and finishes near Queen’s Royal College.
