’Keeping, fast bowling screening sessions resume

THE TRINIDAD and Tobago Cricket Board will resume its fast bowling and wicket-keeping screening sessions today as part of their talent identification programme to unearth talent in these two important facets of the game.
The sessions bowled off late last month and sessions have already been held in the following zones: South, North East, Central and East.
Among the personnel involved are former T&T fast bowler Alec Burns, now chairman of the national cricket selectors; national coach David Williams, a former T&T wicketkeeper; West Indies Cricket Board Territorial Development Officer (WICB) Kumar Rampat and respected coach Bachan Boochoon, also a former national batsman.
The zonal screening for cricketers 17 years and over will resume today from 3.30 pm in the South West Zone at the Fyzabad Secondary School. Onfield assessor is Brendon Ramlal. The next session in the ambitious programme will be on Tuesday, May 13 in the South East Zone at Sancho/St Julien Ground with Rydell Ramsaran as the onfield assessor.
The fast-bowling and wicket-keeping zonal screening is an initiative of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (T&TCB) and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) organised Grassroot Cricket Coaching Programme which started on Friday, May 2, 2014.
The intensive coaching programme is being conducted at several centres in the eight T&TCB affiliated zones including Tobago. According to a TTCB release, all centres will be manned by on-field assessors and experienced and qualified coaches who will ensure that the highest levels of skill and knowledge are imparted on the young cricketers.
