La Romaine in front in third-place playoff

Captain Derrick Boxhill scored a game-high 36 points on Wednesday night to put home team La Romaine one game ahead in the home and away third-place playoff series, in the Hoop of Life Community Basketball League.

The southerners endured a well-fought battle to end Wednesday night's clash with Caledonia 89-77, meaning that when they visit Caledonia at their Paradise Heights, Morvant home tomorrow, the northern team will have to score 13 more points than La Romaine to finish third.

La Romaine led the first session 21-14, pushed ahead 45-35 at half-time, and then 68-58 after three sessions of play.

Under-21 player Kyeon Joseph, from Caledonia, was the next highest scorer on the night with 19 points. La Romaine's Adrian Joseph had 18 points with Caledonia's captain Wilt Vincent and brother Wesley Vincent netting 16 and 14 points, respectively.
