16 & under win: Mariel Lanser ToolsLanser, Stollmeyer to represent T&TThe Trinidad and Tobago leg of the Caribbean Equestrian Association's (CEA) Junior Show Jumping competition will be held this Saturday and Sunday. The visiting countries will be Jamaica, Barbados and the Cayman Islands, with all three countries sending a coach and two riders. Two weeks ago, the Trinidad and Tobago Equestrian Association (TTEA) held the trials to determine who would be the riders to represent the country in this leg of the important regional event. The team selected comprises two riders, one for each age category of the competition--14 years and under and 16 years and under. The trials consisted of six jumping rounds over the two days, the riders being allowed to drop one round, that being their worst score. In the 16 years and under category, spectators saw keen competition between the contenders, Mariel Lanser and Chelsea Thomas. The two horses for this category "Waiting at the Front" and "Georgio Armani" were both tricky mounts for each of these young ladies, and Lanser emerged the winner just four faults. For the 14 years and under category, Adelle Stollmeyer, Amber Thompson and Hadley Rahael each presented strong challenges. Their mounts that day were "Zeus", "Porto Cervo" and "Rocky", with the last living up to his name by giving each rider a tough round. In the end, it was Adelle Stollmeyer who, after her drop-score took the lead with five clear rounds, and a total of zero faults. Most interestingly, Stollmeyer won her place on last year's T&T Team with the exact same score. Rahael ended the day in second place with a total of five faults, including three clear rounds. Thompson had a total of 16 faults. Next weekend's CEA Show Jumping competition, sponsored by Purina, Lifetime Roofing Limited and Blue Waters Products Limited, promises an exciting two days, and the public is invited to attend to show their support for Team T&T. The event starts at 10.00am sharp on both days, and on Sunday there will be barbecue on sale, with snacks and drinks, door prizes, along with face painting and pony rides for the little ones. Following is the T&T team: 16 years and under: Mariel Lanser (reserve Chelsea Thomas) 14 years and under: Adelle Stollmeyer (reserve Hadley Rahael) |
